This very colourful composition was painted by talented Fedoskino artist Chernov.
It shows a Gipsy lady fortune telling to the three Russian Maidens. One of them gave the fortuneteller a hand and her girlfriends are listen to every her word.
The structure of the composition is complex, and filled with amazing details.
Characters of this work are dressed in the richly ornate folk costumes(except the gipsy), which make them so appealing to look at! Gold and red colors of the costumes are painted on the metal foil in lays and that makes them contrasting against more darker dresses and deep green forest background.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The edges of the lid and its sides are decorated with silver lines. The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer while the interior is completed with red lacquer. The lid is hinged to the left of the composition and the box rests on four small round legs. The work is signed with the artists name and village of Fedoskino.
The work has two signs inside the lid.
