Olga Kachalkina, from the village of Fedoskino is the talented artist responsible for this delightful piece. Here we can see a hedgehog, who has found an apple, and wants to taste it.
Silver paint is used to paint the needles of a hedgehog. The rest part of the composition is drawn in subdued oils. Luster of gold paints is strengthened from the leaves and grass. The bottom part of the box's exterior is decorated with a gold dot ornamentation.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title "At the edge of the Forest" and the year of 2015 at the exterior bottom of a box.
