Description: Boris Shavirin is the talented Fedoskino Master who has painted this Baba Yaga, the heroine of several Russian fairy-tales.
Baba Yaga is the oldest character of the Slavonic mythology. Originally Baba Yaga was the goddess of death; people imagined her as a woman with the snake tail who guarded the entrance into the other world and accompanied the souls of dead people into the Kingdom of the Dead. Baba-Yaga is the most famous figure in Russian fairy-tales that represents evil. It is a character of such fairy-tales as "Marya Morevna", "Princess Frog", "The Tale of Life Water and Youth Giving Apples", and many, many others.
In this composition Baba-Yaga sit inside her Hut and preparing some food. In front of her we can see a basket full of red poisonous mushrooms-fly agarics. Her servant, Black Cat, is looking of what she is doing from her back.
The dominant colors of the composition are beige, yellow and red. Elements of the composition are richly decorated with susal gold: the dress of baba Yaga, samovar to the right, a bench and the fire in the stove.
The composition is framed with a gold line on the edges of a lid.
The sides of a box are imitates the color of a brown marble. The box's exterior is black, while the box's interior is red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition , and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the year of 2021, Fedoskino, and the author B.Shavirin.
