Description: This impressive casket with nine compositions on it's sides was painted by a talented Fedoskino artist, Oleg Yastrebov.
This artist has a peculiar painting style notable for aesthetic beauty, and creative approach to a chosen theme.
On several sides /compositions it is easy to identify one or another character or fairy tale, but on some sides it is quite difficult.
On the lid of a chest we can see a Fire-Bird. On one of the upper parts we can see a little hump-backed horse. The lower level of the scenes shows the fishes and underwater world. People's faces are under water and the fishes are swiming in front of them or near by...
It is possible, that we can see Magic whale, on which there were several villages!
The work is beautifully painted in Yastrebov's recognizible style included translucent jewel tones and silver powders to create a unique glow and breathtaking depth. Also almost all of the depicted scenes are framed or decorated with ornamentation which looks like a chain!
The box is constructed of paper-mache. The exterior of the piece is painted with black lacquer while the interior is painted with red lacquer. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on four legs.
