This large box was painted on a Hunting theme by Olga Kosterina. On the lid of the box we can see a hunter with a pike who is not afraid to hunt for a big brown bear. The hunt is take a place during the winter, when bears are usually sleep, because there is nothing to eat for them. One more hunter (to the right) is put a long whip in the den, to wake up the bear. Another hunter (to the left)armed with a rifle, standing behind the major hunter.
Each side shows different animals and scenes: Wood grouses, Ducks,Rabbits and Elks, etc. The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the piece. Golden ornamentation frames two parts of the lids, and decorates compositions on all the sides. The box has hinges from the top of the box and rests flat. It is signed with the artist's name, village of Kholui and title.
