This masterful beauty was composed by Svetlana Vlasova from the village of Kholuy.
Vlasova has an incredible skill in painting her compositions with generous gold and silver detailing. Add to that the intricate filigree with which she decorates the rest of her boxes, and you have a piece that absolutely shimmers!
In this composition, Vlasova has depicted a couple picking up the apples. A couple have found a large apple tree, which was hard to get to, so they used a small boat to reach a tree.
The work features Vlasova's unique and impressive detail work. The scene has subtle, realistic blending of shade and color, almost like an oil painting.
Bordering the painting and drifting down onto the sides of the lid is gold filigree.
This piece is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while a radiant red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the composition and the box rests on a flat bottom. On the interior of the lid, framed in beautiful gold foliage, Vlasova has written that this is an original work, and has given the title and her name, plus the list of materials that she used.
