Talented Mstera Artist , Nikolay Molodkin, has painted this image of Forest Man depicted from the Russian fairy-tales. His elaborate style is well established among the lacquer box collectors community. His father is the outstanding Mstera Master Vladimir Molodkin, his older brothers- Denis and Daniil, are the leading artists of the village of Mstera as well!
The work is called "A Forester" and according to folk believes, the Forest Man is a forest Spirit who keeps the forest and can understand the language of animals and protect all alive being from evil.
Here we can see that a Forester walking in the forest among the mushrooms with a wooden back pack. Forester put a top of the huge mushroom on his head as a hat.
The box's exterior is covered with a black color lacquer and it's interior is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four small round legs. Signed with the name of the artist, the title, the village of Mstera, and the year of 2017 on the base's exterior in gold paints.
