Description:

This composition, based on the novels "The Peasant Lady" by Alexander Pushkin, was painted by by established Mstera artist, Antonina Medvedeva.
Here is the lot ofthe story:

The daughter of the landowner Lisa Muromskaya wants to get acquainted with the son of the owner of the neighboring estate Alexey Berestov, but their fathers have been feuding for many years and do not communicate with each other.
Having learned from the maid Nastya that Alexey is handsome and likes to go hunting in the forest, Lisa dresses up as a peasant and pretends to be the daughter of the Priluchinsky blacksmith Akulina. She goes with a basket "on mushrooms" to look at the young Berestov. This moment we can see on the box!
Lisa meets Alexey and makes a very strong impression on him. He starts looking for meetings with her, courting her, hoping to get her consent to the marriage. He is ready to sacrifice his relationship with his father and inheritance to his love. Lisa also falls in love with Alexey.
Lisa and Alexey's fathers reconcile, thanks to a coincidence: the elder Muromsky falls from his horse on Berestov's field and receives a very kind reception from him. During the conversation, they unexpectedly become friends. During a return visit to their home of the Berestovs' father and son, Lisa plays a masquerade using the cosmetics of her teacher, Miss Zhakson, and Alexey does not recognize her.
Berestov Sinior and Muromsky decide to marry their children.
After learning about his father's decision, Alexey breaks into the Muromsky house for a decisive explanation with an ungracious girl and finds out that Lisa is his dear Akulina.
Green, yellow-brown and reds are the main tones to paint this composition. The landscape is exquisitely done so as not to disturb the emphasis the artist leaves on the characters and the events, but the landscape does a great deal in setting the tranquil mood for the eye. The painting is thin and very detailed!
the painting is framed with a aluminum line. The edges of the lid are decorated with elaborate aluminum patter; the sides of the box are adorned with a foliage painted in aluminum too.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while a radiant red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera (under the painting) , and title (above the painting).
