Talented Palekh artist Kritova Galina has painted this scene from the timeless fairy tale "Cinderella", or "Zolushka" (it is the Russian version of the tale). Here we can see the Prince asking Cinderella to try on a crystal shoe.
The palette for this piece contains a wide spectrum of bright and vivid colors while background is classically black. Gold paint, applied with extreme precision, details almost every aspect of the composition. The edges of the lid are decorated with a gold ornament.Another gold rolling pattern can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box.
