This detailed casket has been created by talented artist Tatiana Grishina.
The box's lid and all it four sides show the scenes from village life.
The box has a title- "All work and no play", and shows different activity.
On the top we can see three girls dancing to the sound of a flute being played by a young fellow.
On one of the sides we can see a girl with shoulder yoke, carring the water in backets, while two pairs are sit on the benches.On the other side, two girls are out to the forest to pick up mushrooms.On the next side, there three girls gathering the harvest. And on the last side, a girl milks a cow.
A broad spectrum of colors is used to create this highly detailed work. The artist leaves the sky black, which is one of Palekh's stylistic trademarks, but does not mean that the scene is taking place at night.
All the compositions-the top and the sides, are framed with a golden dot ornaments. The edges of the lid are decorated with gold filigree patterns accented with aluminum paint.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer while the interior is completed with red lacquer. The lid is not hinged , and the box rests on four legs. Under the composition the artist has wrote her name,title and the village of Palekh.
