Description: This small five-sided casket has been painted by a talented artist Yuliya Konovalova from the village of Palekh. The box's lid and all it's four sides show the scenes from Russian fairy-tales!
On a lid of the box we can see traditional Russian Troyka(the three horses) ride in Winter.
On a back side of the box there is a scene from Morozko tale with a girl and Father Frost, appreciated patience and restraint of a girl and gave her a chest full of treasure.
On a right side of the box we can see Ivan catches the Magic fish, Pike. It features a scene from the "By the Pike's will" fairy tale.
On a left side we can see a Snowmaiden from the same named Fairytale.
And on the front side there is a scen from a tale of Silver hoof.
A broad spectrum of red, green, yellow and blue colors is used to create this interesting work. The background is traditionally for Palekh boxes painted in black color. Gold paint and aluminum paints are used to enhance the life and brightness of the scenes.
The composition on the lid is framed with a golden dot ornament, same as the edges of the base of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer while the interior is completed with red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top of the casket, and the box rests on two platforms.
The artist has signed the box with her name and the village of Palekh.
