This large five-sided casket was painted on a Hunting theme by a family tandem of the Konovalovs, Konstantine and Valentina.
Each side of the casket shows a scene with a different hunt- hunt on wild boares, Ducks, wood grouse, Bear or Elk. Also, picking up mushrooms or berries in the wood, telling the stories at the bonfire.
The casket is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the piece. The sides of the casket and the edges of a lid are decorated with golden ornamentation.
The lid is hinged from a top of the paintings and a chest rests on four legs. It is signed with the artist's names and village of Palekh.
