Bykova Ekaterina is a talented artist behind this interesting work.
Here the artist has depicted a pair flirting on a Masquarade. The face of Lady is hidden behind the mask, both major figures are dressed very rich.On the back side there are also two figures. Lady's face is looks very pretty and not covered with glasses or mask. A young boy to the left has a hat of a Jester.
The sides of the box are richly decorated in a style which first time was used by the famous Fedoskino family tandem of Shapkin-Kareva. The gold leaf is glued to the surface and then cut the gold out it the artist is making rich ornamentation!
The edges of a lid are covered with gold leaves, which makes the box looks very rich.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the box is black, while red lacquer completes its interior. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title "Masquerade", and the village of Palekh.
