Alexey Zaitsev was born on May 9, 1921 in the village of Pavlishchevo, Ivanovo-Voznesenskaya province. Member of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR since 1953. In 1937-1947 he studied at the Palekh Art College. Teachers - V.I.Astakhov, V.T.Bondarenko, I.P.Vakurov. Participant of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1942). Since 1947 he worked in the Association of Artists of Palekh.
He was engaged in monumental (boarding school in the city of Ivanovo), theatrical and decorative painting (design of the ballet by I.I. Schwartz "Wonderland" (1968)), restoration (frescoes of the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin (1947)). Subjects of works: folklore, literature, history, battles. Participated in exhibitions since 1947.
The works of Alexey Zaitsev are kept in museums: Ivanovo Regional Art Museum, Irkutsk Regional Art Museum, State Museum of Palekh Art and some others .
