This beautiful view on the hotel "Russia", the church of St. George and the Moscow Kremlin is painted by Fedoskino S. Vlasov. The Hotel "Russia" is the biggest, and the most famous in Russia. Built in 1973 it stands on the banks of the Moscow River and a gorgeous view on the Moscow Kremlin can be seen through its windows. Soon the government of Russia is going to destroy this hotel, so it may be said that this composition has a historic value.
The artist paints the composition over the layer of gold powder, it creates a beautiful decorative effect and a source of light from within. It also produces the visual effect of Moscow streets lit by electricity during the night.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The Fedoskino "troika" insignia can be found on the interior of the lid. The composition is framed with gold scrollwork. The sides of the box are also adorned with beautiful gold ornamentation. The box has a hinge above the composition and rests on four feet. It is signed with the name of the artist, village, and year (1996).
