This portrait of a girl was painted by T. Soboleva in 2004. The girl is dressed in traditional Russian costume: sorochka (shirt) and sarafan. Her head is crowned with the wreath twined of field flowers, blue bellflowers. In the background the artist paints swans flying high in the blue sky and the cathedral to create a perspective view. The portrait is painted over mother-of-pearl and enhanced with aluminum powder. Using mother-of-pearl the artist achieves luxurious texture of the sarafan, natural sparkling of the girl's earrings and the river's water.
The portrait is framed with a gold line highlighted with aluminum spangles, whereas the sides of the box are elegantly decorated with golden threads. The exterior of the box is covered with black lacquer mixed with blue spangles while its interior is traditionally red. A hinge is fastened to the left of the lid. The box rests flat without feet. It is signed and titled ("Geese and Swans") by the artist.
