Description: Oleg Yastrebov from the village of Fedoskino painted this charming scene. He is a talented artist whose brilliant works are always recognizable.
The work is called "Run-Away Princess", and shows the little princess with a silver crown on her head riding the white swan swimming on the marshy pond. She has been playing on the pond bank with her brilliant gold ball till her tiresome nannies came. To escape from them she jumps on the swan's back, intending to start new adventures instead of coming back home.
White, brown, and gold tones dominate here. Sparkling gold paint is used to paint the princess's dress, her socks and ball, as well as to outline the plants depicted on the foreground. Gold metal powder highlights the black background and the swan's feathers and beak. Aluminum paint creates the brilliance of water, the moon and the crown on the girl's head. Multicolored spangles are sprayed throughout the scene for additional decoration.
The scene is framed with gold threads. The box's sides are decorated with complex gold and aluminum ornamentation in the form of forest plants
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed, titled and dated (2005) by the artist.
