Dunaev from the village of Fedoskino painted this summer landscape. It features the picturesque riverbank.
The scene is painted in rather dark green and brown tones. Mother-of-pearl is inlaid in the portion of the sky to create brilliance of the sunrays. The surface of the river and the sky in some places are highlighted with aluminum powder.
The scene is framed with a gold line, while the sides of the box are decorated with intricate gold ornamentation.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition. The box rests on a small platform. It is signed and dated (2006) by the artist at the bottom of the composition in black oil paints.
