Parmenov from the village of Fedoskino painted this dramatic winter landscape. The winter sunset paints the sky with a bright golden glow. The icy surface of the frozen river reflects the golden sunlight creating a very beautiful visual effect.
In this work the artist successfully used the contrast of pale gray-white tones of the snow and ultra bright gold tones of the sunlight reflected on the ice. The golden sunlight is reproduced by means of gold metal paint. In this work the artist has been able to catch the majesty of a rare moment in nature.
The composition is framed with elegant gold ornamentation.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition. The box rests on four legs. Signed by the artist's name.
