This beautiful oval box is a creation of Dunaev from the village of Fedoskino. It features the stream falling down the hill covered with dense vegetation. The scene is painted in various shades of green, brown and blue. Mother-of-pearl shines through the portion of the sky decorating and enlivening the composition.
The scene is framed with gold beads.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition. The box rests on a flat bottom. It is signed and dated (2006) by the artist at the bottom of the composition.
