Oleg Yastrebov from the village of Fedoskino painted this composition. The grace of his lines and the animated style in which he paints has made his work very popular internationally. His choice to work with a variety of thematic material shows his diverse skill as an artist and that he is willing to experiment with stories that are not directly connected to Russian culture.
The box features the girl who dances and plays on the tambourine. The full moon shines brightly and the black sky is studded with myriads of stars. The light autumn breeze is blowing, soon the weather will change.
The scene is richly highlighted with gold and aluminum powder. Bright green, shimmering spangles are scattered throughout the scene for additional decoration.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed, titled ("Autumn Breeze") and dated (2006) by the artist.
