Yastrebov Oleg from the village of Fedoskino created this masterful portrait of unknown young woman. She sits at the dressing table admiring herself in a mirror. Her appearance is very romantic and dreamy. She thinks about the forthcoming ball; it will be the first ball in her life!
The dark background creates the effect of a room illuminated by a faint candle light and also allows the woman's figure painted in light tones to be the sole focus of attention. Delicate brushwork details her face. Her features are drawn clearly, with soft skin and a faint blush on her cheeks. A truly human composition.
The box is constructed from paper-mache and rests on a flat bottom. A hinge is fastened at the left. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. Signed by the artist at the bottom of the portrait. Excellent work!
