This elegantly shaped box is a creation of T. Naryshkina from the village of Fedoskino. The picturesque summer scene painted here looks like an interpretation of a canvas-on-oil painting painted by some Holland artist.
The scene is painted in earth tones, and seems to be filled with sunlight. This effect cleverly emphasizes the natural piece of the mother-of-pearl set into the small river to create reflection of the sunlight on the water.
Gold line is used to frame the scene, while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2002 at the bottom of the scene.
