Alexey Valyalin is the author of this dramatic seascape. Alexey likes sea very much, that is why all of his works are seascapes. He is a true master of this genre. In his youth he served in the navy, and this fact may explain his love towards sea and ships.
The scene is brilliantly painted in the realistic style. Silver scan patterns composed of tiny beads hand punched from silver metal sheets, and glued to the box manually decorate the edges of the lid and the box's sides. The dark blue exterior of the box is studded with light blue thin veins to imitate coloring of a stone. The box's interior is covered with red lacquer. The box has a hinge from the top of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. It is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2007 and the village of Fedoskino. Fine work!
