This portrait of a lady with the basket of flowers is a splendid work of Ivanov of Fedoskino. An oil on canvas painting composed in the later half of the 19th century inspired the artist to create it. For Fedoskino painters, as it was for the Vishnyakov and Lukutin artists before them, inspiration is often found in canvas paintings by artists great and small. A spectacular example of how a beautiful painting can be rendered in miniature is presented in this work.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The box's sides are adorned with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2006 on the lid's interior.
