Parmeonov S. painted this beautiful marine scene. The bright orange sunset is reflected in the dark blue sea. The rolling waves approach the sandy beach almost noiselessly. The sea is calm. The sailing boat moves away from the shore for a night fishing trip.
Refined oil-painting techniques give this piece depth and life. The palette used is full of blue paints to convey the marine and aquatic environment within the composition. Yellow and orange tones are used to paint the sunset that beautifully enlivens the composition. Great movement in the water is painted very naturally showing the seemingly random wave directions.
The scene is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
