Description: The brave rope-walker gives his horrifying performance for a crowd of citizens of an old Russian town. He is very high above the ground, and hundreds of faces look at him with admiration and horror. He walks along a thin rope, and each of his steps provokes a scream of the crowd. The magic feather of the firebird helps him to balance. His art of balancing makes a profound impression on people.
This is a fresh original of work of the established Fedoskino artist Alexey Otryaskin. The scene is painted in the art manner typical for this artist. The palette is extremely bright and vivid. The oils are mixed with gold and silver paints in some areas to fill the composition with a natural brilliance. Gold paint is used to paint the cupola of the cathedral painted on the right, to highlight the wooden tower drawn on the left, to detail the rope-walker's costume and some other minor elements. Silver paint shines through the river, the grass, the roofs, and the costumes of all characters. Mother-of-pearl that has greenish undertones creates a magic sparkle of the firebird's feather. Very interesting work!
The edges of the lid are adorned with a nice gold pattern; the same gold pattern wraps around the box's sides.
