Description: This portrait painted by S. Pershin is an interpretation of the famous canvas-on-oil painting "Boyarynya" created by Konstantin Egorovich Makovsky (1839-1915). This masterpiece is kept in a private collection. You can see how the original looks like here: http://www.picture.art-catalog.ru/picture.php?id_picture=6530.
The portrait is highly detailed and very accurate. Pershin painted with a great care each minor element of the boyarynay's rich attire including shining pearl beads of her kokoshnik, flowers that decorate her kerchief and, certainly, gorgeous features of her face. Her rosy cheeks, juicy lips and blue magnetic eyes accentuate her youth and natural charm. Sparkle of her kokoshnik is achieved by having silver metal paint below the oils. A beguiling portrait.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed at the bottom of the portrait with the artist's name, and the year of 2007, and the title (“Boayarynya after Makovsky K., 1889).
