Description: This beautiful small box has been painted by the talented Fedoskino artist Sindyukov. It shows an impressive view of Palace Square seen through the triumphal arch. Palace Square is the historical center of St.-Petersburg, the place that should be visited by every tourist who plans to visit this town. In the middle of square there is the Column of Alexander I erected in 1834 to commemorate the victory over the French Army in the war of 1812. Nowadays Palace Square is one of the historical points of interest that may win the All-Russian competition “Seven Wonders of Russia”.
The scene is painted in the realistic style. A piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the left part of the triumphal arch. Silver powder is used to highlight the sky.
The scene is extended on the box's sides. The box's exterior bottom is covered with black lacquer mixed with bright gold dust; the interior is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. It has a hinge from the left of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2001.
