The first light of dawn sweeps across the frozen countryside. A flash of sunrise colors on the dark blue sky is achieved the help of a sparkling mother-of-pearl inlay. Painterly skill creates a dramatic interplay of light and shadow within the scene.
This peaceful winter scene has been drawn by the talented Fedoskino landscape painter, Sergey Parmeonov. The scene is outlined with gold, two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
