This alluring box that shows the old elf sitting on the grass and thinking about something is an original work of Natalya Lavrenkova. This talented Fedoskino artist likes to paint her boxes on various fairy-tale themes. Green tones of oils dominate here. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the title (“The Old Elf”).
