Description: Vladislav Maslov from Fedoskino has painted this scene from the Russian Fairy-Tale “The Humpbacked Little Pony” on this small semicircular box. It is a fine
specimen of an oil based painting, which adheres to the principle techniques
and methods of the Fedoskino style. It is an artist's original composition as well, which was taken straight from the creative depths of his head, to paper,
and then finally to this box.
The box shows Ivan caressing his faithful friend, the Humpbacked Little Pony, inside the chamber of the Tsar's palace. The palette is not bright and contains within its spectrum blues, greens, and reds of all hues and tones. A piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the window. Shining with green and violet undertones, it creates the illusion that the sunrays penetrate into the chamber through the bright stained-glass of the arched window. Various details are enhanced with gold and silver paints.
Mother-of-pearl inlay in the form of a band can be also found wrapping around the box's sides. It is outlined with gold, and also sparkles brightly with green and violet undertones. The box's exterior bottom is covered with cream lacquer while the interior is covered with red lacquer mixed with gold dust.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged, and the box rests
on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the year of 2008.
