Natalya Gogina is a talented Fedoskino artist who painted the landscape on this box. The depicted scene was originally drawn on canvas by L.L. Kamenev in 1871. This masterpiece is called “Mist Over the Red Pond in Moscow”.
Using various shades of brown and grey oils Gogina has managed to reproduce the atmosphere of a misty morning on the lakeside. The box's sides are adorned with a simple gold pattern.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the title.
