Description: This small oval box has been drawn by the talented Fedoskino painter Natalya Gogina. It shows a picturesque view of the village of Kideksha situated in the Vladimir Region, approximately 5 kilometers to the east of the town of Suzdal. The main place of interest of this village is the Church of Boris and Gleb built in 1152 that is depicted here.
A simply elegant skan design wraps around the sides of the box. Skan are individual gold punchouts that are applied to the box during the drying process of the lacquer.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four feet. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title ("The Town of Suzdal. The Village of Kideksha") and the year of 2005 on the box's exterior bottom.
