This gorgeous piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by Tatyana Tipyakova from the village of Fedoskino. Born in Moscow, she studied at the Fedoskino Art School under the honored artist of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Pashinin.
Here Tipyakova skillfully paints some ducks enjoying a rest at the local pond. A scene like this, real or on an artist's canvas, always has a calming effect on the soul. The burning gold in the trees and flora give the impression of an autumnal dominance over the land. The reflective quality of the water is enhanced by an inlay of mother-of-pearl.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The exterior is decorated with gold filigree accented with aluminum. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the name of the artist, Fedoskino, and the year of 2001.
