This interesting work has been painted by Shavyrin from the village of Fedoskino. It shows the beautiful, young sorceress gathering healing herbs in the forest at night. She is accompanied by the wolf and the owl that protect her. The full moon illuminates everything in the forest, and the sorceress easily finds the herb she needs.
The scene is painted in dark tones as the action takes place at night. The plants and leaves of the trees are painted over silver powder that helps to create an illusion that they reflect the moonlight. Gold paint is used to decorate the sorceress's costume.
The scene is framed with a simple pattern composed of two parallel gold lines and an elementary gold design in each corner of the lid. Two parallel gold lines can be also found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2008 and the village of Fedoskino.
