This charming Fedoskino box is a creation of the talented landscape painter E. Mishina. It depicts the End of Winter in a Russian village when the sun shines brightly, the snow starts to melt and rook birds return from south countries.
The landscape is painted in the realistic style in delicate white and blue oils. Mother-of-pearl is set into the sky to create the radiant glow of the sunset, and into the big puddle that reflects the sunset glow.
The scene is framed with a gold line.
The box's exterior is covered with soothing light blue paint, and decorated with gold blurry spots. Its interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer. The Fedoskino "troika" insignia can be found on the interior of the lid.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box sits flat. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2006.
