Description: Valentina Maslova from the village of Fedoskino is the creator of this beautiful brooch. On the oval piece of mother-of-pearl the artist has painted her interpretation of the world famous portrait of Marie Antoinette originally painted in 1783 by Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun. Marie Antoinette was the Queen of France during the French Revolution. In 1770 Marie left Austria for France to marry the prince of France. In 1774 the prince became King Louis XVI and Marie became the queen. After the revolution Marie and her husband were beheaded.
Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun (16 April, 1755 - 30 March, 1842) was a French painter, and is recognized as the most famous woman painter of the eighteenth century. Her style is generally considered Rococo. She made her career painting European nobility. Being Marie Antoinette's favorite portraitist, she painted more than 20 portraits of the queen and her children.
The oval pearl plate on which the portrait is painted is set into the frame made out of German silver. The portrait is framed with swirling metal patterns. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2009.
