This beautiful round box was created by Fedoskino artist Mashkova M.A. The composition shows young girls gathering ashberries. A young man, standing beyond the wattle fence, jokes and flirts with them.
The palette is very bright and inviting. Green, yellow, blue, red tones shine beautifully against the black background. Metallic gold leaf is laid into the girls' sarafans and their shawls. Aluminum powder mixed with oils is used to paint the green meadow in the background. The brushwork is impeccable, which reveals the intricate details throughout the foreground.
The sides of the box are decorated with a simple gold beading. The sides of the box have a pretty gold ornament. The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged and the box rests on a flat bottom. There is the Fedoskino Factory emblem under the lid. The box singed is signed with the name of the artist, village and year (2003).
