This peaceful winter scene is a creation of Igor Dunaev. The golden cupolas of the white shone churches shine brightly in the winter sun. The icy river reflects the golden rays of the sunset. The riverbanks, the roofs of the peasant houses and the trees and covered with white snow. The Russian countryside is so beautiful in winter.
Light blue oils suitable for depiction of a winter scene predominate here. Mother-of-pearl inlay helps to create a sparkle of the sunset in the sky and its reflection on the icy river. Gold paint is used to paint the cupolas of the cathedrals and to highlight their roofs. A wide, brilliant gold band wraps around the bottom part of the box's body.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2009 and the village of Fedoskino.
