This small box that depicts the owl sitting on the fir tree is creation of Taisia Danchenko from the village of Fedoskino. The scene is painted in various shades of brown oils over gold metal powder that shines beautifully through the owl's feathers and through the tree. Gold paint is used to create a sparkle of the plants depicted in the right bottom corner of the scene and needles of the fir tree. Lustrous gold metal leaf is inlaid into the background the owl is painted against. The scene is framed with a thin gold band. The edges of the lid are decorated with elegant gold patterns. The box's exterior imitates a stone color (it is covered with very thin gold and green veins), while the interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
