Description: This picturesque view of the Moscow Kremlin in winter has been painted by Alexander Maslov. The Moscow Kremlin is the town-forming nucleus of Moscow, the starting paint of the city's history, Russia's stronghold and spiritual hub.
The architectural ensemble of the Moscow Kremlin includes the world famous buildings depicted on this box. In the foreground the artist has panted Ivanovskaya Square. In the background, from right to left we can see the Assumption Cathedral (built as the principle church of the Russian state; designed by the architect Aristotle Fioravanti during 1475-1479); the Filaret Tower, the Assumption Bell Tower and the Belfry of Ivan the Great (built by Italian architect Bono Friazin in 1505-1508); the Archangel Cathedral (designed by the Italian architect, Alevisio Novy, this cathedral bears the name of Archangel Mikhail, the guardian of princes and Russian warriors; the Archangel Cathedral became the sepulcher of grand princes); and the Annunciation Cathedral (it was a domestic church of grand princes and tsars and was designed to host family events).
The box is made of paper-mache.
