Dmitry Bebikhov is the author of this work. Here he depicts a picturesque summer landscape. A girl sits on the riverbank and looks at a boat sailing at the distance. A line from Lermontov's poem “a white and lonely sail is flickering…” has been chosen as a title for this work.
The scene is painted in various shades of green and blue oils. The edges of the lid are adorned with a very thin gold line. Two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from papier-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title and the year of 2008.
