Description: This portrait of Nikolay II has been painted by talented artist Valentina Maslova from the village of Fedoskino. Here the artist presents her own interpretation of the famous canvas-on-oil painting created in 1914 by Ernest Lipgart.
Nicholas II was the last Tsar of Russia, Grand Duke of Finland, and claimed the title of King of Poland. His official title was Nicholas II, Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias and he is currently regarded as Saint Nicholas the Passion Bearer by the Russian Orthodox Church.
The portrait is painted in the realistic style against the light blue background. The splendor of the uniform is achieved with the help of gold metal leaf inlay.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed at the bottom of the portrait with the artist's name, and the year of 2009, and the village of Fedoskino.
