This exquisite portrait of a woman with a kettle lit by the candle light is a creation of Yugeniy Dokuchaev. Dokuchaev is known as a talented Fedoskino portrait painter whose works are always in great demand.
The dark background creates the effect of a room illuminated by a faint candle light; and also allows the woman's face painted in light tones to be the sole focus of attention. Delicate brushwork details her face. Her features are drawn clearly, with soft skin and a faint blush on her cheeks. A truly human composition.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines decorate the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
