This beautiful piece of authentic Russian craftsmanship was created by Yuliya Golubyonkova from the village of Mstera. The composition depicts the detachment of falconers riding along Red Square.
Falconer was a post in the household of Grand Princes. Falconers had to supply game to the tsar's court and got some benefits therefore. In the background we can see the beautiful panorama of the Moscow Kremlin.
The scene is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the title (“Tsar's Falconers”).
