This interesting work is a creation of the talented Fedoskino artist, Pavel Govorun. It shows a scene from Lewis Carroll's classic tale “Alice in Wonderland”. Having fallen through the Rabbit's hole, Alice finds herself in a fantasy world populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. Some of these creatures are playing cards, another ones are animals or absolutely fairy-tale characters like Humpty Dumpty or Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
The scene is beautifully painted using oil paints. The girl's face looks dramatically being painted against the clear blue sky. Gold metal powder shines magically through the Joker's costume.
The scene is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2009, Fedoskino and the title (“Alice in Wonderland”).
