This beautiful marine scene is a creation of Galina Davydova from the village of Fedoskino. It shows two British brigs leaving the port and sailing out into the open sea.
Blue and white tones suitable for depiction of a marine scene predominate here. A large piece of silver metal leaf is set into the background to create a radiance of the deep blue sky. The scene is brilliantly painted and seems to be filled with fresh air, wind and smell of the sea.
The scene is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines decorate the box's sides. The box's exterior is covered with light blue lacquer covered with almost invisible white veins. Its interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2009 and the village of Fedoskino.
