Description: Valentina Maslova from the village of Fedoskino is the creator of this exquisite brooch. On the oval piece of mother-of-pearl the artist has painted the portrait of famous Ballet Dancer Nadezhda Pavlova. Mother-of-pearl shines beautifully through the oils and creates a sparkle of the woman's costume and the background.
Nadezhda Pavlova was born in Cheboksary in 1956. She studied at the Perm Ballet School and before her graduation she won Grand Prix in the Second International Ballet Competition in Moscow 1973. She danced in Perm 1974-75 and joined Bolshoi Ballet as soloist in 1975. She made her Bolshoi debut in Giselle partnering V. Gordeyev, whom she also married the very same day.
She has awarded by degree of People's artist of the USSR 1984.
Repertoire of Pavlova includes: Coppelia, Nutcracker, Giselle, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet.
The oval pearl plate on which the portrait is painted is set into the frame made out of German silver. The portrait is framed with swirling metal patterns. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2009.
