Description: This round shaped box has been created by Kozlova from the village of Fedoskino. It shows a recognizable fragment from the Russian folk fairy-tale "Ivan Tsarevich and the Grey Wolf". Here we can see Ivan Tsarevich who tries to catch the magic Firebird.
The scene is painted in bright oils. Lustrous gold paint is used to paint the firebird, to produce a magic light around the bird and also to highlight Ivan's costume. Gold paint is also used to decorate the box's exterior with simple ornaments.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino.
